COMMUNITY CONVERSATION SERIES
In 2019, we hosted a series of town hall community discussions centering on the experiences of Somali youth in educational spaces.
These discussions, titled the ‘Community Conversation Series,’ took place in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. Many young people attended, eager to share their testimonies and experiences and build community with other youth.
We were looking to build spaces for community dialogue and youth development. This was an ongoing series where we held workshops to create dialogue around the Somali student experience in MN. These conversations also served our research work.
One session focused on green spaces, gentrification in Minneapolis, and anti-displacement work. We used the discussions as a learning exchange to navigate anti-displacement and green economy work in the Twin Cities.
